The assessed value of the American Dream mega mall in New Jersey’s Meadowlands was slashed by about $850 million by a tax court judge on Thursday, handing a victory to the owners of the property who sought to lower payments tied to that valuation.
The reduction is a blow to bondholders who own the roughly $800 million of debt backed by those payments, called payments in lieu of taxes, or PILOTs.
